Want Young Looking Skin?

Have you watched TV commercials lately? Have you seen the latest billboards put up by advertising companies? Have you noticed the numerous pictures of beautiful women with flawless skin in print ads? These are just some of the mediums used to market beauty products including anti-aging creams. They promise to give the users flawless white skin. For the older users, the come-on is clearer, fairer, and wrinkle-free skin.

The question however, is this: do they really work?

Wrinkles are normal, and there’s nothing in this world that can stop wrinkles from affecting the skin. However, some research conducted suggests that some wrinkle creams may actually improve the appearance of wrinkles. These creams contain ingredients that helps improve the skin condition. However, many of these ingredients have not undergone any scientific research to substantiate their claims. Thus, the use of these creams actually places users at risk as they may negatively react to the substances in the cream. Moreover, it will also waste the money of the users should the products fail to deliver its promise.

Some creams do improve the condition of the skin, but it largely depends on how long the product is used and the type and quantity of the active ingredient in the wrinkle cream.

Ingredients Found in Anti-Aging Creams

Again, the efficacy of the anti-aging creams depends largely on what it’s made of, or what the ingredients are. Most common ingredients found in anti0aging creams are the following:

Retinol is a vitamin A compound and an antioxidant. Antioxidants are substances that neutralize free radicals (unstable oxygen molecules that break down skin cells which causes wrinkles).

Coenzyme Q10 is a nutrient that helps control energy production in cells.

Kinetin is believed to improve the appearance of wrinkles and uneven pigmentation with very minimal irritation. It is believed to reduce wrinkles by stimulating the production of collagen and by helping skin maintain moisture.

Hydroxy Acids such as Alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids and poly hydroxy acids are synthetic versions of acids derived from sugar-containing fruits. These acids are exfoliants or substances that remove the upper layer of old, dead skin. Exfoliants also stimulate the growth of smooth, evenly pigmented new skin.
